Durants

Men like this make me so glad that I am not married...this married guy at Durant's bought a chick a bottle of wine and now he is hitting on a fucking broad that called herself HispanicK when he asked her what she was. I'm seriously going to vomit.

Reality Overload

I have been sucked into the Reality TV abyss. I am slowly trying to climb out. I feel like I lose a few grains of intellect with each episode of America's Next Top Model and Laguna Beach. For this reason, I am swearing off all reality television, effective with the finale of Run's House. Here's a rundown of the shows I currently watch EVERY WEEK: The View Oprah Tyra Show Girlfriends Laguna Beach Grey's Anatomy Desperate Housewives America's Next Top Model Martha Apprentice Run's House NO MORE. That's it. Here's my new revised list: The View Oprah Girlfriends Grey's Anatomy Desperate Housewives Run's House Martha Apprentice Once Martha and Run's House are over, I will have 5 shows. I'm also swearing off gossip websites and tabloid magazines. No more Pink is the New Blog, Socialite Life, or Page Six. I'm even tempted to dump Gawker. I feel like I've become a spectactor in my OWN LIFE and I'm ready to reclaim it.

Happy halloween!

I'm passingh out candy for the first time in my house and...wow I don't think I bought enough. Apparently there are a lot of children in the neighborhood. Seriously, where do they all live? Ok and some of these parents are sooooo lazy. They drive down the road as their kids go door to door! Hello! They could use the exercise!

Run Around Sue

I ran a total of 13.1 miles this week, an all time record for me – AND I lost 3 lbs over the last 2 weeks! I’m going to start discussing my adventures in running via this blog instead of talking everyone’s ears off about it. I know you are all sick of hearing about it!

Crackish Jim on Martha Stewart Apprentice

Jim seriously needs to lay off the crack - I mean Red Bull. Oh, and am I the only one who thinks he bears a striking resemblance to this better known crack head? I hope Martha and Jennifer give them both the boot soon.

Jogger Blogger

I am proud to officially title myself Jogger Blogger. This race was INCREDIBLE. I am so addicted to running that I may just give up heels for fear that I may injure myself and therefore stop running. Well, ok, those of you who know me realize that will never happen, but nevertheless I FINALLY found an activity that I adore.

I love this man

Kanye West never ceases to amaze me. He is an incredible producer and lyricist. Although I was a tad disappointed in Late Registration, I am overjoyed by his recent endeavors into live television. Here's a run down by WaPo: washingtonpost.com Kanye West's Torrent of Criticism, Live on NBC By Lisa de MoraesSaturday, September 3, 2005; C01 Why We Love Live Television, Reason No. 137: NBC's levee broke and Kanye West flooded through with a tear about the federal response in New Orleans during the network's live concert fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina last night. The rapper was among the celebs and singers participating in the one-hour special, produced by NBC News and run on the NBC broadcast network, as well as MSNBC and CNBC, because, hey, the numbers couldn't be any worse than usual on a Friday night and hopefully they'd raise a chunk of change for a good cause, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Among the performers, Faith Hill sang "There Will Come a Time," which included the lyrics, "The darkness will be gone, the weak shall be strong. Hold on to your faith." Aaron Neville performed Randy Newman's "Louisiana 1927" with its chorus: "They're trying to wash us away, they're trying to wash us away." West was not scheduled to perform; he was one of the blah, blah, blahers, who would read from scripts prepared by the network about the impact of Katrina on southern Louisiana and Mississippi. West and Mike Myers had been paired up to appear about halfway through the show. Their assignment: Take turns reading a script describing the breach in the levees around New Orleans. Myers: The landscape of the city has changed dramatically, tragically and perhaps irreversibly. There is now over 25 feet of water where there was once city streets and thriving neighborhoods. (Myers throws to West, who looked extremely nervous in his super-preppy designer rugby shirt and white pants, which is not like the arrogant West and which, in retrospect, should have been a tip-off.) West: I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, it says, "They're looting." You see a white family, it says, "They're looking for food." And, you know, it's been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are black. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I've tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help -- with the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way -- and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us! (West throws back to Myers, who is looking like a guy who stopped on the tarmac to tie his shoe and got hit in the back with the 8:30 to La Guardia.) Myers: And subtle, but in many ways even more profoundly devastating, is the lasting damage to the survivors' will to rebuild and remain in the area. The destruction of the spirit of the people of southern Louisiana and Mississippi may end up being the most tragic loss of all. (And, because Myers is apparently as dumb as his Alfalfa hair, he throws it back to West.) West: George Bush doesn't care about black people! (Back to Myers, now looking like the 8:30 to La Guardia turned around and caught him square between the eyes.) Myers: Please call . . . At which point someone at NBC News finally regained control of the joystick and cut over to Chris Tucker, who started right in with more scripted blah, blah, blah. "Tonight's telecast was a live television event wrought with emotion," parent company NBC Universal said in a statement issued to the Reporters Who Cover Television after the broadcast.

My Wonder

I am really liking jogging these days and looking forward to the Nike Run Hit Wonder 5k. So far, my time is improving with every run and I am up to 2 miles now. I am anxious to see my progression over the next week especially, since school is starting. Maritza is a freaking maniac. I told her that if she doesn’t take a break (she’s gone to the track everyday for the last like, 10 days) she’s going to be treated for exhaustion like her idol Dave Chappell. What I DON’T like about the track at PC is the fact that the stupid football team has practice at the time I go. HELLO. There are psycho spectators with those air horns and old men watching who knows what – certified perverts if you ask me. I glare at them as I go by. My favorite though is the mothers that come out with their strollers to WALK ON THE TRACK – wtf?!

Jogger Blogger

Okay, so I ran on the ground (as opposed to the treadmill) on Saturday. I was totally anxious about it because everything I've heard/read made it seem like my treadmill runs were futile. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that my time was actually BETTER on the track!!!! I completed 1.75 miles in 21.5 minutes, which equates to about 12.28 minute miles. I was so excited that I was tempted to run again on my rest day Sunday. My legs aren't even sore, which means that all my working out (six days a week for the last 5 weeks, mind you) counts for something. I was ready to go this morning but discovered I have a sore throat. I am totally determined to go tonight, but if I am not feeling better will settle for my lower body routine at the gym.

Havasupai Heaven

I am really excited about Havasupai Falls. Arizona never ceases to amaze me. This photograph is completely untouched - the water is THAT blue. My only fear is that Adam will get hurt and have to be air evacuated out of the canyon. That and the fact that there are no telephones. AT ALL. Not even pay phones.

Baseball is soooo boring. I thought the night was doomed the moment I sat down. How was I supposed to know there isn't a halftime in baseball? And WHY does the sign show 10 inning numbers if there are only 9? Baseball is dull. However, I ended up having a ball (ha ha) with Maritz and Samuel. I just love Democrats and Dem events. Kinda sad I am not going to YDA Convention, but I don't think I will miss much.  Posted by Picasa

Beautiful Eyes

I had a fantastic time in San Francisco with Alisa and Katherine. It was a lovely trip. My newest fascinations is with this artist Diane Keane. Her paintings are so touching. I absolutely fell in love with this one called "Rosebud" (second image). More pics from the trip will be posted shortly.

Best for Life

Body for Life and I get along really well. I guess it was "my time" to start - you can't do it unless you're ready and I was ready!!!! I am so hooked to this program. I am nearing the end of my first week and feel soooo good. I don't recall feeling this energized (without caffeine or some appetite suppressant) during my adult life. This week I've eaten some of my favorite foods with a few modifications: Chicken (skinless breast) Broccoli (hands down favorite) Rice (brown vs. white) My sweet tooth has been satiated with Luna bars. There are tons to choose from and they are loaded with nutrients, protein (albeit soy), and other good for you stuff (or better for you stuff) like rice flour and other rice based ingredients instead of white flour. My favorite is the Peppermint Chocolate flavor. It's like a chocolate rice krispy bar with mint coating - awesome combo. Anyway, I know that I sound like some freak on an informercial so I'll stop now.

Thursday, July 14, 2005

Well, I am off to SF this weekend for some quality time with Alisa and Katherine. I am really excited about travelling with them - it should be a great visit. Sometimes I feel like my life is as crazy as Lombard st (hence the picture). Always on the go, 50 things going on at once. After NYC in September I am going to lay low....wait I just remembered my BIG trip with my Mom over Thanksgiving. Yes, we're doing Europe. Should be fun, albeit chaotic. I am really looking forward to it. So, just when I think my life will begin to resemble, oh, say, Main St. USA, yeah, forget it. Not happening. My crazy life.

Reality Check

I just watched True Life: I'm Dirt Poor on MTV. One of the guys on the show had no running water in his house. Here I am wondering where to eat tonight.
