Neo-Platonians

Just wanted to get your attention. School is in session and I am so damn busy I can't see straight. NYC was fantastic as usual. Blizzard and all folks. My grandfather pointed out that I am always there during "off" times...let's recap, shall we? Well, I was there for Blizzard 2003 and yes, as I recall, it was "that" bad. At least this time I had better clothing and was able to stomp right through it---Alisa, yes, I am a ship and the snow was my glacier except I didn't crash. Then there was the 2003 Blackout. Yup, was there for that too. Thankfully I made it to Buff before the first flicker...damn it was hot that week! So now there's "Blizzard 2005" not to mention that we were on our way to the A train and witnessed the homeless fire mayhem at Chambers and Church.

Make New Friends...

I was humming this tune that I learned in Girl Scouts this morning and it got me thinking about friends...old ones, new ones, and people you meet in passing. I found that this article pretty much sums it up: Make New Friends, But Keep the Old FLM-FS-13-97 Christine F. Olinsky, CFCS, Montgomery County A popular song says to "make new friends/ but keep the old/one is silver/the other gold." Friends really are treasures - as treasured as gold and silver. Some friends become almost part of the family, often because of the length of time of that friendship. Others enter late in life but become treasured for the role they play, even though the time of that friendship may be short. Everybody needs friends. The need for friends does not diminish with age. In fact, friendship provides intimacy, fun, new experiences, and reinforcement of self-worth, whether a person is married or single, with or without children, or young or old. Friendships are often based on common interests or doing things together. Friends can be the same age, younger, or older. They can be the same sex or the opposite sex. The key to building a friendship is developing trust in each other and feeling that each person is valued for himself or herself, not for some outside motive. True friends share and confide in each other.

Jami Foxx

Jami Foxx was brilliant in his portrayal of Ray Charles and I am so happy that he won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. His speech was moving. He showed such spirit and I think for a moment we all had a glimpse of the real man.

New Title

This is the best line I have gotten during my entire career: "I don't understand why I am not talking to the decision maker here you are just a conduit". I want new business cards!

This is "something new and interesting"

Okay, this machine is not new and may not be interesting to some. That title is an inside joke which refers to a song Ty can't stand by Utada. While I admit her lyrics are ridiculous, I find the tune "Animato" quite catchy. Even if she does say "I take my diamond shoes someone tries to be on time do what you came to doI came to see you follow-through" she's cool. Big ups to my JAS. Anyway, I digress. The whole point of this post was to share my excitement about the Stairmill. I love this machine. I am currently at at 10 minutes at level 3 with a 5 minute cool down at level 1. It’s so challenging and my heart rate is up, up UP!

Update

This weekend I made delicious chocolate chip cookies from scratch and a fantastic mocha. For the mocha I warmed milk and stirred in Ghiradelli semi-sweet chocolate chips. I used my french press (we all know drip is foochie and should be avoided at all costs). I am saving SO much money on coffee now that I make it at home-$25 a week! Plus, mine's way stronger-almost like mud-yum! Thanks to Alisa, I have been enjoying Trader Joe's french roast (she bought it while she was here visiting). Alisa, if you are reading this, there WAS coffee in the cupboard that I forgot about-some Dominican stuff and some of the dreaded Gevalia. I'll save the Dominican for when you come back.
