See you later, Crocodile

You all know how much I love LACOSTE. Have you seen those nasty ads that Retro Fox did with "See you later alligator?" It's a crocodile, stupid! We all know what they meant, and it wasn't about a school yard phrase as he told Page Six: November 18, 2004 -- DON'T mock French sportswear label Lacoste. Clothier Retro Fox received a cease-and-desist letter from Lacoste after the company with the fox logo ran ads in the fashion trades stating, "see you later, alligator." The ads showed the fox nipping at the heels of a croc tail that looks like Lacoste's logo. Only thing is, Lacoste always corrects people who call their mascot an alligator, because they claim it's a crocodile. Retro Fox president Anthony Ottimo scoffed, "We're an American company. Lacoste is French, so they don't get that our slogan 'See you later, alligator,' is an old schoolyard phrase. And aren't they supposed to be crocodiles?" Retro Fox will unveil a massive billboard with the ad on the Long Island Expressway next week. Don't hate on the croc. I've seen a fox in Dorothee's backyard in London and believe me, a crocodile would have been MUCH scarier. Never smile at a crocodile.
