Yummy things

Jamaican Ting Soda-it's kinda like Squirt, but better Grilled cheese sandwiches with sweet pickles Anything Cranberry-Orange Speaking of...Maritza IM'd me a recipe for Cranberry Orange Cake today, which got me thinking about a book that our school librarian Mrs. Farber used to read to us in grade school. Around Thanksgiving every year for like, 3 years, she would read us a book that involved kids making cranberry orange bread. The book even had a recipe in the back of it. After she read the book, she'd pull out a pan of the bread! Talk about interactive learning. Ever since I've had a special place in my heart (and gut) for all things cranberry-orange.

Imponderables

I was on a flight last evening across the aisle from a woman who was transporting her little Lhasa Apso as a carry on. I wonder...when you bring an animal on board as a carry on, does it have to go through the metal detector or the x-ray machine? Hmmmmmmm...at one point I was considering bringing Roxy with me cross-country---this was when she was a mere pup, of course--but the airline said that I would have to have documentation from my vet authorizing her air travel AND tranquilizers---no way was I going to do that. In light of last night's flight with the yippy little dog who started barking as soon as we were starting our descent, I am glad that I never brought Rox onboard.

This is my DREAM house

I love gingerbread and I love modern design. Therefore this is the house of my dreams. This house is on display in Heritage Square (you know, the OG Macy's) and it's made by none other than...SPLENDA. Yes, this is an evil edible splenda house. Gingerbread houses make me long for a delectable Biscoff. I think I could feasibly knock down my house and start afresh with something like this, no?

Candy Girl you are my world...I need your love each and everyday

I just looooove Daily Candy. If you aren't in the know, it's a daily e-newsletter that features a different site, designer, store, service, etcetera every single live long day-by city! It's delicious and just what I need to start the mind a-wandering...

During Happier Times...

Yes, this photo was taken during much happier times. When President Select had less than a year until his term was up. When fear of voter fraud was (somewhat) limited to Florida, and when the Wyndham had that Italian grotto feel that I instinctively detested but grew to love-oh wait, they never did remodel the grand ballroom. Well, some things never change.

Another One Bites the Dust

Well, Bianca is doing it. She's getting married. I am happy for her and secretly relieved that she did it before me. I suppose it's not really a done deal until the documents are signed, right? Bianca, if you are reading this, it's not too late! Just kidding, Allen is an incredible man, and I know that they will be happy. You know, I never did ask her if she was planning on changing her name? Why is it that all of my posts are done while I should be taking care of some pressing matter, like packing?

She's crafty - and she's just my type

I finally made the flower hair combs for Tianna and I last night. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! I'm rather impressed by how well they turned out, if I may say so myself. I was so excited by the finished product that I thought about putting some on E-bay-don't worry, that thought passed after I looked at the mess I had to clean up after my little project. If I could turn out high volume, it would be totally worth it. The flowers (NOT the cheap Michael's variety) were about $3 a stem and the combs were $1.99 for a pack of ten! I also made some pretty nifty necklaces. It's amazing how far a little hot glue and fishing line will go. The necklaces cost about $7.50 each for all the materials and they only took like, 5 minutes to put together. Needless to say, I am pretty pleased. I am excited about B's wedding, can't believe she'll be hitched in less than a week.

Natural Beauty

This woman lacks it: So does this one:

See you later, Crocodile

You all know how much I love LACOSTE. Have you seen those nasty ads that Retro Fox did with "See you later alligator?" It's a crocodile, stupid! We all know what they meant, and it wasn't about a school yard phrase as he told Page Six: November 18, 2004 -- DON'T mock French sportswear label Lacoste. Clothier Retro Fox received a cease-and-desist letter from Lacoste after the company with the fox logo ran ads in the fashion trades stating, "see you later, alligator." The ads showed the fox nipping at the heels of a croc tail that looks like Lacoste's logo. Only thing is, Lacoste always corrects people who call their mascot an alligator, because they claim it's a crocodile. Retro Fox president Anthony Ottimo scoffed, "We're an American company. Lacoste is French, so they don't get that our slogan 'See you later, alligator,' is an old schoolyard phrase. And aren't they supposed to be crocodiles?" Retro Fox will unveil a massive billboard with the ad on the Long Island Expressway next week. Don't hate on the croc. I've seen a fox in Dorothee's backyard in London and believe me, a crocodile would have been MUCH scarier. Never smile at a crocodile.

Shopping

It's totally Holiday season. I saw a landscaper attaching lights to a tree at an apartment complex down the road from my work this morning. Oh, yeah, and the lights are up on Mill, too. So that AJ's coffee that I had the other day, the one with Nesquick? Yeah, never going there again for mochas. Especially since I went to lunch with Maritz the other day and had the most delicious mocha from Lux Bar. YUM. It totally made up for the faux-cha mocha from AJs. The place is a little Shining-esque in my opinion. Like, the area by the restrooms is kind of creepy with the room with the window and all white furnishings. My Pane Bianco sandwich was incredible, as usual. It tastes like there's coarse salt on the focaccia.

Go Light Rail!

Blog Overload

I am finding that I could spend all day doing this. I must stop now. I keep remembering other things that I was going to say like, the reason why I picked this design is because it's reminiscent of my living room curtains. What's not to love about dots?

Weddings and Rice Bowls

Bianca's wedding is 20 days away. Egads! She's joining the married friends group. This is significant because B and I are best friends and I always thought that our views on relations were pretty similar. I mean, in some ways we balance each other. Anyway, next thing you know she'll be asking me when I am going to get married and have kids. Just kidding, this is a running joke between us. I have to pick up my dress today from alterations woo hoo! I ate a Thai Kitchen rice bowl this morning. It was great with the addition of 2 soy sauce packets-one was low sodium Kikkoman and the other Kimlan. The best flavor by far is the Lemongrass Chili. Today I had Thai Ginger. Some people keep ketchup in their offices. I keep soy sauce.
